Weidenhausen is a district of the municipality of Hüttenberg . The place is located south of Wetzlar in the Lahn-Dill district in central Hesse .
Geographical location
Weidenhausen is located in the eastern Hintertaunus ( Wetzlarer Hintertaunus ) in the Taunus Nature Park . The Schwingbach flows past below the village .
Adjacent villages are Volpertshausen (southwest), Reiskirchen (northwest), Rechtenbach (northeast) and Vollnkirchen (southeast).
Weidenhausen is currently growing together with the neighboring town of Volpertshausen. This happens in the context of the new development of a building area in the border area of the districts. In the meantime one can speak of a fluid boundary between the places.
history
The place was first mentioned on April 3, 1296 in the Lorsch Codex . The spelling "Wydenhusen" is used for this first mention. This name has its origins in the word "Widonis villa", which means something like the willows that were planted around a villa (house).
Territorial reform
In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , Weidenhausen became part of the large community of Hüttenberg on January 1, 1977 . Previously, the place belonged to the community Schwingbach, whose foundation dates to December 31, 1971. The places Rechtenbach, Vollnkirchen and Weidenhausen belonged to it. The amalgamation of the municipality of Schwingbach with the municipalities of Hüttenberg, Reiskirchen and Volpertshausen to form the new large municipality of Hüttenberg happened as part of the reorganization of the Dill district , the districts of Gießen and Wetzlar and the cities of Wetzlar and Gießen. For Weidenhausen, as for the other districts, a local district was formed with a local advisory board and local councilor .
