Werner Schlegel (sculptor)

Werner Schlegel (* 1953 in Greiz ) is a German sculptor and draftsman .

life and work

Schlegel was born in the GDR and studied art and sport at the University of Paderborn from 1976 to 1980 . Since 1982 he has been teaching at the Johanneum grammar school in Wadersloh . Schlegel has been married to Nicole Horvatic since 1993. He has a son. From 1995 to 1997 he had a teaching position for sculpture at the University of Paderborn. Schlegel is a member of the Beckum-Warendorf District Art Association and lives and works in the old freight yard in Salzkotten -Niederntudorf.

"If you add the cut surfaces of the bodies, which are partly painted white and partly left natural, then it is (...) the striking juxtaposition of hardness and softness, of heaviness and lightness that characterizes this work."

Sculptures, drawings and room installations are part of his work.
