Wernhies is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Kottes-Purk in the Zwettl district in Lower Austria .

The small scattered settlement is located a little south of the L78 state road in an exposed position to the east.

history

After the founding of the political communities in Lower Austria in the middle of the 19th century, the village and cadastral community initially belonged to the political community of Gschwendt .

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there were a total of 9 building areas with 5,655 m² and 12 gardens on 22,623 m² in the cadastral community of Wernhies , in 1989/1990 there were 7 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 18 and in 2009/2010 there were 8 buildings on 12 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is predominantly characterized by forestry. 81 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of the year 1979/1980 and 118 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 59 hectares and 79 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 58 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 79 hectares. The average soil climate number of Wernhies is 19.6 (as of 2010).
