DFB Cup 2019/20

The Westphalia Cup 2019/20 was the 39th staging in football - Westphalia Cup Men. The winner qualified for the first main round of the DFB-Pokal 2020/21 .

mode

The Westphalia Cup was played in the knockout system . There was one game in each round. If a game had been a draw after 90 minutes, the decision would have been made on penalties . The extension was abolished this season. The games of the first round were drawn by lots, the rest of the game was based on a seeding list. In the games at the district level and the first and second round at the association level, the lower-class team had home rights. In the other rounds at association level, only the district league teams always had home rights. If two teams from the same league level played against each other, the team drawn first had a home game. However, it was possible to exchange home rights. From the semi-finals onwards, the venues were determined by the association .

Participating teams

The Westphalian clubs from the 3rd division and the Regionalliga West 2018/19 as well as any relegated teams from the 2nd Bundesliga 2018/19 automatically qualified for the Westfalenpokal 2019/20 . In addition there were the teams in places one to six of the Oberliga Westfalen 2018/19 , the champions of the two seasons of the Westphalia League , the champions of the four seasons of the Landesliga , the champions of the twelve seasons of the District League and the 29 district cup winners. The remaining places up to the number 64 were assigned to the districts that made up most of the men's teams that actively participate in the game operations of the district leagues. This year these were the districts of Dortmund, Bochum and Recklinghausen. If a district cup winner had already qualified through a championship, the defeated district cup finalist would have moved up.
