The Westphalia Cup 2018/19 is the 38th staging in football - Westphalia Cup Men. The winner qualifies for the first main round of the DFB-Pokal 2019/20 .
mode
The Westphalia Cup will be played in a knockout system . There is one game in each round. When a game is tied after 90 minutes, the game is two 15-minute extended . If after that still no decision has been made, a penalty shoot-out follows . The games of the first round are drawn by lots, the rest of the game is based on a seeding list. In the games at the district level and the first and second round at the association level, the lower class team has home rights. In the further rounds at association level, only the district league teams always have home rights. If two teams from the same league level play against each other, the team drawn first has a home game. However, it is possible to exchange home rights. From the semi-finals onwards, the venues will be determined by the association .
Participating teams
The Westphalian clubs from the 3rd division and the Regionalliga West 2017/18 as well as any relegated teams from the 2nd Bundesliga 2017/18 automatically qualify for the 2018/19 Westfalenpokal . In addition, there are the teams in places one to six of the Oberliga Westfalen 2017/18 , the champions of the two seasons of the Westfalenliga , the champions of the four seasons of the Landesliga , the champions of the twelve seasons of the district league and the 29 district cup winners. The remaining places up to the number 64 are allocated to the districts that provide most of the men's teams that actively participate in the game operations of the district leagues. This year these were the districts of Dortmund, Bochum and Recklinghausen. If a district cup winner has already qualified through a championship, the defeated district cup finalist moves up.
