Wetrowo ( Russian Ветрово , German Schölen , Lithuanian Šėliai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad ( Koenigsberg region (Prussia) ) and belongs to the Pogranitschnoje selskoje posselenije (rural community Pogranitschny (Hermsdorf) ) in Bagrationovsk district ( Prussian district ).
Geographical location
Wetrowo is located on the east bank of the Frischer Haff and 16 kilometers northeast of the former district town of Mamonowo (Heiligenbeil) . The small village can only be reached on very impassable roads. The next train station is Laduschkin (Ludwigsort) on the railway line from Kaliningrad (Königsberg) to Mamonowo (Heiligenbeil) to continue to Poland (former Prussian Eastern Railway or Op (Ostanówotschny point = "stop") Sosnowy Bor on the same railway line).
history
The little earlier Schoelen to Pohren or Schoelen called rural community came in 1874 to the newly established District ribs (now Russian: Sowchosnoje) in the district Heiligenbeil and Administrative district Königsberg the Prussian province of East Prussia . In 1910 there were 34 residents in Schölen zu Pohren (113 in neighboring Schölen zu Rippen).
On September 30, 1928, the two rural communities of Schölen zu Pohren and Schölen zu Rippen merged to form the new rural municipality Schölen (without addition). A year later, Schölen was reclassified to the Pohren district (today in Russian: Rasdolnoje), which was renamed the Windkeim district in the same year, to which it belonged until 1945.
As a result of the Second World War , Schölen came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia and was given the Russian name Wetrowo in 1950 . By 2009 it was in the Pogranitschni Selski soviet incorporated (village Soviet Pogranichny) and has since - as a result of structural and administrative reform - one as a "settlement" (Russian: possjolok) classified village within the Pogranitschnoje selskoje posselenije (Town Pogranichny), with headquarters in Sowchosnoje .

In largely Protestant population Schoelen was in the until 1945 parish Bladiau in Kirchenkreis Heiligenbeil in the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Prussian Union of churches the parish. The last German clergyman was Pastor Heinrich Geiger .
Today, Wetrowo is located in the catchment area of the two evangelical parishes in Mamonowo and Novo-Moskovskoye that were newly established in the 1990s . Both are branches of the Church of the Resurrection in Kaliningrad , which belongs to the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia (ELCER).
