S-Bahn line 2 to Erding
underpass

The stop at München-Berg am Laim is a stop in the Berg am Laim district of the Bavarian capital, Munich . The stop is served daily by around 300 Munich S-Bahn trains and is located in the area of the Munich Transport and Tariff Association (MVV). It has two platform tracks and is located on the Munich – Rosenheim railway line and the Munich – Simbach railway line . The stop is adjacent to the Munich East marshalling yard to the south .

history

With the opening of the Munich – Rosenheim railway on October 15, 1871, no stop was set up in the Berg am Laim community. On the initiative of the neighboring communities, the Royal Bavarian State Railways set up suburban transport with several new stops in 1897. In doing so, they set up a stopping point at Post 3 of the route to develop the villages of Echarding , Ramersdorf , Josephsburg , Berg am Laim and Baumkirchen . On May 1, 1897, the Royal Bavarian State Railways opened the Berg am Laim stop with the start of suburban traffic. The breakpoint was in the center of Baumkirchen, 50 meters north of St. Stephen's Church .

During the construction of the Munich East marshalling yard , the Bavarian State Railways moved the Munich – Rosenheim line around the stop by around 200 meters to the north, directly to the marshalling yard and the Munich – Simbach line. In the course of the relocation, the Berg am Laim stop was closed on May 1, 1915. Only a year later, on May 1, 1916, did the Bavarian State Railways reopen a Berg am Laim stop on the tracks of the Munich – Simbach railway line. The new stop was equipped with a central platform and could be reached via a staircase from the underpass of Truderinger Straße under the marshalling yard. On October 1, 1938, the Berg am Laim station was named Munich-Berg am Laim .

In preparation for the Munich S-Bahn , the Deutsche Bundesbahn set up the new Baumkirchen junction (later Munich-Berg am Laim Abzw ) east of the stop on the Munich – Simbach railway line on April 1, 1970 and took a connection from the junction to Munich train station -Trudering in operation. As a result, the Berg am Laim stop could again be served by trains on the Munich – Rosenheim line. In addition, the stop for S-Bahn operations was given a new central platform with a height of 76 cm. On May 28, 1972, the Munich S-Bahn began operations and from then on the stop was only served by S-Bahn trains. Until the relocation of the Munich – Simbach railway to the site of the marshalling yard in December 2003, the regional trains to and from the Mühldorf stop ran through the stop without stopping.

In 2008, Deutsche Bahn expanded the stop to be barrier-free . The platform was raised to 96 cm and equipped with an elevator system. With the expansion, a separate pedestrian underpass was created to provide access to the S-Bahn. The direct access to the platform from the Truderinger Strasse road tunnel has been dismantled and walled up.

Infrastructure

The stop has two platform tracks on a central platform, which has been barrier-free since 2008. The platform can be reached via a pedestrian underpass, is covered and has digital train destination displays .

Tram 25 at the Berg am Laim train station.

The Berg bus stop at Laim Bf. (South) is located south of the stop . The Berg am Laim Bf tram and bus stop is to the north . Since December 2016, the bus routes 185, 187, 190 and 191 of the Munich Transport Company (MVG) have been stopping at both stops . The lines are, however, under massive criticism from the population, in the district committee and in the press. Between February and December 2016, a new tram line to the Berg am Laim stop was built. From the timetable change on December 11, 2016, tram line 25 ended on a turning loop north of the railroad tracks. As a result of the protests, line 19 to Berg am Laim has been running instead of line 25 since May 7, 2018, which in addition to the S-Bahn trains Connection to the city center exists. To the east of the tram reversing loop, a reversing loop has also been set up for public buses.
