William D. Baird

William D. Baird (born May 1906 in Tennessee ; † September 6, 1988 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1959 and 1962, he was President of the State Senate and Vice Governor of the state of Tennessee.

The sources on William Baird are very poor. He was a member of the Democratic Party and mayor of Lebanon . Between 1959 and 1962 he was a member of the Tennessee Senate, of which he was president. So he was at the same time Lieutenant Governor of Tennessee and Deputy Governor Buford Ellington . It is not known why his term of office, which actually ended in 1963, ended in 1962. According to Find a Grave, he died on September 6, 1988. In the list of Tennessee Senate presidents, the year of his death is given as 1987. Which of the two statements is correct must remain open.
