Frank Gorrell

Frank Cheatham Gorrell (born June 20, 1927 in Russellville , Logan County , Kentucky , †  March 12, 1994 in Brentwood , Tennessee ) was an American politician . Between 1967 and 1971, he served as President of the State Senate and was Vice-Governor of the State of Tennessee.

Career

Frank Gorrell graduated from Vanderbilt University in Nashville . After a subsequent law degree at the same university and his admission to the bar, he began to work in a law firm in Nashville in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Since 1962 he sat in the Tennessee Senate. There he campaigned for greater independence of this body from the executive branch. Between 1967 and 1971, as President of the Chamber, he was also Vice-Governor of his state. So he was Deputy Governor Buford Ellington . Gorrell later worked as a lobbyist. He died unexpectedly on March 12, 1994.
