William D. Fulton (1918)

William Duane Fulton (born May 27, 1864 in Homer , Ohio , † March 2, 1925 in Mount Clemens , Michigan ) was an American lawyer and politician ( Democratic Party ). He sat in the Ohio House of Representatives and was Secretary of State of Ohio from 1917 to 1919 .

Career

William Duane Fulton, son of Rachel Carver (1829-1889) and William Fulton (1820-1896), was born in Licking County during the Civil War . He attended public schools and graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Fulton studied law , got his license to practice, and then began practicing in Newark, Ohio. He worked as a city ​​solicitor and sat on the city council. He was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives, where he served from 1911 to 1912 and from 1913 to 1914. During his final tenure, he wrote the Gerrymandering Bill for Ohio Congressional Districts. In 1916, Fulton was elected Secretary of State - a post he held from 1917 to 1919. Fulton was married to Josephine Maud Wintermuth (1866-1940) from Newark. The couple had three daughters and one son. He died on March 2, 1925 in Mount Clemens, Michigan and was then buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newark.
