Winkelstedt is a district of the municipality of Dehre in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany.

geography

The village of Winkelstedt is located about four kilometers northwest of Dehre in the northern part of the Altmark and about seven kilometers from the state border between Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony on the Grabower Graben, which flows into the Salzwedeler Dumme at Dehre .

history

Winkelstedt was originally laid out as a horseshoe-shaped round square village with a church on the square ( Rundling ).

It was mentioned in a document as early as 1121 as the Willinestilde and at that time belonged to the Hamersleben monastery . In 1178 it is called Willinistidi . In the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg from 1375 the place is listed as Winkelstede . In the 15th century the village was subordinated to the provost in Dehre .

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, Winkelstedt was incorporated into the Bonese community together with Rustenbeck from the Salzwedel district.

The municipal councils of the municipalities Bonese (on: May 5th, 2008), Dehre (on: May 5th, 2008) and Lagendorf (on: May 8th, 2008) decided that their municipalities would be dissolved and become a new municipality with the Names Dehre are united. This contract was approved by the county as the lower local supervisory authority and came into effect on January 1, 2009.

The Evangelical parish Winkelstedt belonged to the parish Dehre. Today the parish belongs to the parish Osterwohle-Dehre of the parish of Salzwedel in the Provostspengel Stendal-Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Culture and sights

  • The Protestant village church is a rectangular hall made of irregular field stone masonry, probably from the 15th century, with a walled, pointed arched south portal made of brick and a half-timbered roof tower. The church is a branch church of the church in Dehre.
  • The cemetery is at the eastern end of the village.
