Wolfgang Liebhart (born December 11, 1958 in Klagenfurt , Carinthia, Austria) is an Austrian composer and music teacher .

Life

Wolfgang Liebhart received his first violin and theory lessons at the Conservatory in Klagenfurt. In Vienna he first studied music theory with Thomas Christian David , then composition with Francis Burt . He completed his composition diploma with distinction. In the academic year 1991/92 Liebbart completed postgraduate studies in composition with Jonathan Harvey at the University of Sussex in England . He also obtained the final “MA degree” with distinction. In 1994 Liebhart received a “foreign scholarship” and spent six months in Rome . Here he made friends with the Italian composer Luca Lombardi . Liebhart has lived in Vienna as a freelance musician and composer since 1992 . He is the father of two children: Igor Gross (* 1985) and Jacob Eichberger (* 1998). In 2002 he took over a composition class at the Conservatory Vienna Private University , which he still holds today.

In his compositional work, Liebhart is to be counted among the representatives of new music . In addition to the great music theory currents, jazz , electronics and especially Asian folklore influenced his compositional style. Wolfgang Liebhart has so far created chamber music works (especially 3 string quartets ), ensemble and solo literature. For large orchestra he wrote a. a. the orchestra work on behalf of the RSO Vienna . In addition, some vocal works , choral works as well as pieces for zither , accordion and percussion were created .
