The Central Stadium ( Russian Центральный стадион (Казань) ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Russian city ​​of Kazan , capital of the Republic of Tatarstan . This is where the Rubin Kazan football club received its opponents until 2014 .

history

The stadium in Kazan was inaugurated on June 25, 1960. The first football match took place on August 21, 1960 between Iskra Kazan and Metallurg Kamensk-Uralsky (4: 1). Before the venue got its current name, it was called the Lenin Stadium . The sports facility, which was renovated in 2006, now offers space for 30,133 spectators (133 VIP box seats) and, starting from the main grandstand (west), the stands are covered up to half of the stadium. Six blocks of the north stand are intended for the guest fans. The stadium is also equipped with underfloor heating and a digital scoreboard ; the floodlight system provides 1385 lux and a video surveillance system with 31 cameras (13 inside and 18 outside) is available. There are 43 workstations available for journalists and tickets can be purchased at one of the 14 ticket offices.

On August 29, 2007, a sports hall for football and athletics was opened directly behind the main grandstand. It is 178 m long, 91 m wide and 24 m high. There is space for around 1,000 spectators on a small grandstand. Artificial turf has been laid on the playing field, measuring 105 × 68 m, and a five-lane running track runs around it.
