Émile Bewing

Émile Bewing (born March 12, 1907 in Remerschen ; † August 31, 1998 in Esch ) was a Luxembourg cyclist .

Athletic career

Bewing began cycling in 1926 at the Velo Club de la Ville d'Esch. As an amateur , he won several victories in neighboring France and Belgium . Between 1933 and 1935 he drove as an independent and was runner-up in Luxembourg in 1933 and 1934. In 1936 he had his greatest success by winning the Luxembourg championship for professional drivers . This was followed by a victory in the Strasbourg - Metz - Nancy race . For a short time he drove for the French Peugeot-Dunlop team . The Second World War ended his career like that of many others. After the war he started again in the veterans category and won the national title there in 1947, and came third in each of the following two years.

Professional

After his career he opened a grocery store and later worked as an insurance agent.
