Christian Poos (born November 5, 1977 in Luxembourg ) is a former Luxembourg cyclist .

Athletic career

Christian Poos began his cycling career in the SaF Zéisseng association . His club maintained close contacts with the cycling school of Cyrille Guimard in Rennes , so that he was able to move there at the age of 19. At the same time he was able to continue his studies in Rennes. A year later he switched to VC Pontivyen and competed in races in France, particularly in Brittany.

Christian Poos won the 1997 U23 event in Liège – Bastogne – Liège ahead of Karsten Kroon from the Netherlands and was then elected Sportsman of the Year in Luxembourg. In autumn 1999 he came second in the U23 time trial Chrono des Herbiers . In 2000, after two previous changes to French teams, he became a professional with the Swiss Post Swiss team . In his sophomore year he won both the time trial and the road race at the Luxembourg championship. He was able to defend this title the following year. After the 2003 season, Poos temporarily ended his professional career after a protracted leg injury hampered him. In 2007 he was again able to win the title of Luxembourg time trial champion. In 2012 he finally ended his cycling career.
