final
The first Austrian Cup competition after seven years of forced break due to the war, which saw the duel Rapid against Vienna in the 20th Austrian Cup final, was accompanied by extremely high audience interest. 50,000 visitors to the finals mean a record number of spectators at an ÖFB Cup final. The Vienna was considered a slight favorite against Master Rapid due to the latest performances, in any case the game became a duel between the two most successful teams of the past few years, as well as the most popular players in Austria - Franz Binder and Karl Decker. In a game that was characterized by great commitment, a Binder shot gave Rapid an early lead, which Vienna, despite their superiority in play, followed for an hour before Decker equalized. After Binder was successful with one shot again shortly before the end, the game was decided, Decker was sent off for foul play.
