final
Austria and FC Admira / Wacker faced each other in the 42nd Austrian Cup final. Austria won the championship in the same stadium just three days ago, after catching direct rivals SV Austria Salzburg 2-1. Accordingly, the violets were favorites, but also worn out. In return, opponents Admira / Wacker reached the European Cup starting place prematurely and just a few weeks earlier had almost destroyed their dream of championship with a 1-0 win against Austria. Ultimately, however, after an even game, the champions prevailed thanks to a header goal in the 90th minute from Valdas Ivanauskas.
