- Wallia , ruler of the Visigoths, defeated the Silingian Vandals and Alans in Roman service , who were displaced south and west from the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula .
- In a federal treaty, the emperors Flavius Honorius and Constantius III. to the Visigoths residences in southern Gaul . This is how the Visigothic Empire (Tolosan Empire around Tolosa, today's Toulouse ) emerges in Aquitaine and parts of the surrounding provinces of Novempopulana and Gallia Narbonensis .
- Theodoric I becomes king of the Visigoths after Wallia's unexpected death.

- May 1 : The Synod of Carthage primarily regulates the doctrine of original sin and the doctrine of the Christian grace of redemption. The bishops condemn the doctrine of Pelagianism and the Pelagian Caelestius and renew the excommunication of Pelagius . Pope Zosimus , who a year earlier had rehabilitated Pelagius, approves the eight council canons.
- December 27 : A part of the Roman clergy chooses after the death of Zosimus Eulalius the Bishop of Rome . However, this is now regarded as the antipope .
- December 29th : Boniface I is proclaimed the new Pope in Rome . He is supported by Emperor Honorius against the counter-bishop Eulalius.
- Anti-Judaism : A mob in Menorca burns down the synagogue under the leadership of the bishop. All members of the Jewish community are forced to be baptized .
