Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud , Arabic عبد العزيز بن تركي الفيصل آل سعود, DMG ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Turkī al-Faiṣal Āl Saʿūd , (born June 4, 1983 in Riyadh ) is a Saudi businessman, racing car driver and racing team owner.

Family and education

Abdulaziz Al Faisal is one of the sons of Turki ibn Faisal and thus a member of the Saud dynasty . His father was the intelligence chief of Saudi Arabia and ambassador to the United States for more than two decades . His grandfather was Faisal ibn Abd al-Aziz , King of Saudi Arabia from 1964 to 1975.

After attending the King Faisal School in Riyadh, he studied Political Science at King Saud University from 2001 to 2003 and then from 2003 to 2006 at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London . During the same period, he also studied marketing with degrees from a college in Jeddah .

Career in motorsport

Abdulaziz Al Faisal began his career in Formula BMW Bahrain , where he finished third in the championship. In 2008 he entered the 24H Series with his own racing team . The racing series only included 24 and 12 hour races. In 2008 these were the 24-hour race in Dubai and the 12-hour race in Hungary . He finished the miniseries fourth overall. In 2009 he came to Europe and drove for Walter Lechner's team in the Porsche Supercup . He finished the overall ranking in 14th place.

In the following years he was a regular starter in the races of the 24H Series. In 2010, when the series still only consisted of 2 events, he finished second overall and third in the A6 class in 2014. In 2015 he won an important individual race in the series with the 24-hour race in Dubai . Partners in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 were Hubert Haupt , Yelmer Buurman and Oliver Webb .

The Saudi celebrated great successes in Porsche Cup races. In 2010 and 2012 he won the overall ranking of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East . In 2011 and 2013 he was runner-up; 2014 third overall.

Al Faisal was also active in international long-distance sport. In 2011 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where 27th overall in 2014 was his best result so far in this 24 Hours of race .
