Albert von Werder
Albert Busso Leopold Hugo von Werder (born July 22, 1852 in Merseburg , † July 3, 1936 in Goslar ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry .

Von Werder joined the Magdeburg Hussar Regiment No. 10 in Stendal as a recruit . In 1872 he was assigned to the 3rd Badisches Dragoon Regiment Prince Karl No. 22 in Mühlhausen i. E. shifted. There he became an adjutant in 1879 and from October 1, 1880 attended the Prussian War Academy in Berlin . Since September 1884 adjutant in the 28th Cavalry Brigade in Karlsruhe , he returned on in September 1887 as the squadron chief for Dragoon Regiment. 22 back. Further stations in his military career were from October 1891 the Great General Staff in Berlin, from October 24, 1893 the staff of the 5th Division in Frankfurt an der Oder and from May 1897 the post of Ia in the staff of the II Army Corps in Stettin . From May 1900 to February 1903 von Werder was the commander of the Guard Dragoon Regiment (1st Grand Ducal Hessian) No. 23 in Darmstadt and then moved as Chief of Staff to the XVIII. On October 19, 1905 he became the commander of the 25th Cavalry Brigade (Grand Ducal Hessisches) in Darmstadt and afterwards in 1907 inspector of the 4th Cavalry Inspection . His last peacetime assignment was from March 22, 1910, as commander of the 8th Division in Halle (Saale) . On November 9, 1912, after more than 40 years of service, he was put up for disposal .
With the beginning of the First World War he was called up again and took over the leadership of the 4th replacement division as lieutenant general in early August 1914 . After operations in Lorraine ( Nancy area ) Werder's troops were relocated to the northernmost western front as part of the race to the sea . After the siege of Antwerp , Werder's Division was thrown to the Yser Front in mid-October 1914 and took part in the First Battle of Flanders . After two years of positional warfare, the 4th replacement division moved to the Somme in September 1916 . After participating in the spring battle at Arras , Werder's division was relocated to Eastern Galicia on May 21, 1917 . From November 23, 1917 to August 8, 1918 he commanded the 10th Landwehr Division , first on the Stochod on the Eastern Front and, after the armistice with the Soviets, on the Western Front again. From the end of August 1918 he was deputy commanding general and commander of the headquarters of the IV Army Corps .

Von Werder was married to Ida von Linde-Nette. With her he had a daughter named Margarethe.
