Alexander Dmitrievich Aveverin
Alexander Dmitrijewitsch Aveverin ( Russian Александр Дмитриевич Аверин ; born April 11, 1954 in Baku , Azerbaijani SSR ) is a former Soviet cyclist .
Career
When he was 14 years old, his brother Vladimir persuaded him to take up cycling training. Awerin only became a competitive athlete in the military when he was looked after by national coach Viktor Kapitonov . At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal , he reached 17th place. In 1977 he took part in the UCI Road World Championships . Awerin was then registered for the 1978 peace trip, which he surprisingly won.
