Andrés de la Garma (born March 11, 1988 ) is a Mexican ice hockey goalkeeper who has been under contract with San Jeronimo again since 2013.

Career

Andrés de la Garma began his career as a hockey player with San Jeronimo. When the semi-professional league Mexicana Élite was founded in 2010 , he moved to the Zapotec Totems , one of the four founding clubs of the league. With the team from Mexico City , however, he only finished last in the league's debut season. In 2013 he returned to San Jeronimo.

International

For Mexico , de la Garma took part in the U18 World Championships in Division III in 2003 and 2004 and in Division II in 2005 and 2006 as well as in the U20 World Championships in Division III in 2004 and 2005 and Division II in 2006 , 2007 and 2008 .

In the adult division, de la Garma made his debut for Mexico at the World Cup Division III in 2005 , when the Central Americans were promoted to Division II at the home tournament in Mexico City . There he stood at the 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 World Championships , when he was voted the best goalkeeper of the tournament, 2011 , 2012 , when he achieved the third best catch quota of the tournament after the Belgian Björn Steijlen and the Bulgarian Nikola Nikolow , 2013 , 2014 , 2015 , 2016 and 2018 in the box.

He was also on the ice at the pan-American ice hockey tournaments in 2014 and 2015, in which he and his team came second (2014 behind Canada , 2015 behind Colombia ). He also represented his colors at the qualifying tournaments for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver , 2014 in Sochi and 2018 in Pyeongchang , but when he was not used.

Trainer and functionary career

In addition to his active playing career, he was General Manager of the Mexican junior team at the 2011 U18 World Cup for Division III. At the women's world championships in 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 , he was assistant coach for the Mexicans in Division II. He also looked after Mexican junior national teams.
