Andrew Smith (born February 1, 1951 in Wokingham , Berkshire , England ) is a British Labor Party politician who has represented the constituency of Oxford East in the House of Commons since 1987 and was, among other things, Minister for Labor and Pensions.

Life

After visiting the Reading School studied Smith at St John's College of the University of Oxford and received his both a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Bachelor of Philosophy (B.Phil.). His political career began in local politics when he in 1976 as a member of the city council of Oxford was chosen and this belonged to the 1987th Between 1979 and 1987 he was a manager at the Oxford and Swindon- based consumer cooperative Co-op society , where he was responsible for contact with members.
