Angie Martínez

Angie Martínez (actually: Angela Martínez , born January 9, 1971 in New York City ) is an American rapper , TV and radio presenter and model . Her parents are Puerto Rican .

Career as a musician

After various jobs in call centers , as a courier driver or at the party service and as a radio presenter at the New York hip-hop station Hot 97 , the radio master Flex encouraged Angie Martínez to give it a try as a rapper.

In 1996 Martínez was in the song Heartbeat by KRS-One , shortly afterwards in Not Tonight by Lil 'Kim . Not Tonight reached number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the US R&B chart. The single received platinum for selling over one million recordings .

Martínez was subsequently involved in other productions, such as Christmas in the City with Mary J. Blige , Freak Out with Terror Squad , Oh No (remix) with NORE , Tell Me (remix) with Beenie Man or Guilty Until Proven Innocent with R. Kelly , as well as on mixtapes with Funkmaster Flex & Big Kap , Kid Capri , DJ Clue and DJ Kayslay .

In 2001 Martínez's first album Up Close and Personal was released , on which well-known musicians like Mary J. Blige ( Breathe ), Wyclef Jean ( Coast 2 Coast ), Busta Rhymes ( Gutter 2 the Fancy Ish ), Snoop Dogg , Pharrell Williams , Jay- Z , Fat Joe , Cuban Link , Prodigy , Kool G Rap and Q-Tip were involved.

In 2002, her second album Animal House was released , with If I Could Go! and Take You Home (feat. Kelis ) contained two hits.

Career as a model

Angie Martínez was often hired as a model for streetwear, hip-hop clothing, sneakers, etc., for campaigns by Ecko by Marc Ecko , RED , IceBerg , Mercedes-Benz and Lucky Magazine, and together with Missy Elliott for Adidas .
