Anton "Toni" Krinner (born June 14, 1967 in Bad Tölz ; † March 2, 2017 ) was a German ice hockey player and coach.

Career

As a player

Krinner began his career at home EC Bad Tölz , where he played in the second Bundesliga . For the 1986/87 season he moved to Eintracht Frankfurt , who had been promoted to the Bundesliga . After one season he returned to the second Bundesliga and back to Bavaria, with one season each in Riessersee and Bayreuth . This was followed by two more years in the top German division at the Mannheim ERC .

In the summer of 1992 Krinner moved to the Augsburg EV in the second Bundesliga, with whom he celebrated promotion to the newly created German ice hockey league in 1994 as a champion. After his engagement in Augsburg, Krinner played with the Kassel Huskies , with whom he became German runner-up in 1997. In 1997 he returned to Bad Tölz and later played in Heilbronn, Braunlage and Ulm. Ulm was then his first coaching station.

As a trainer

In the 2005/06 season, Krinner was initially the trainer and later the sports director of Mosquitos Essen , before he became the trainer of Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg in early January 2006 . First, he received a contract until the end of the season, which was extended by one year in March 2006. In the 2006/07 season he was promoted to the German Ice Hockey League, in which Krinner continued to train the Grizzly Adams. He signed a contract until 2009. For the 2010/11 season , Krinner moved to the Hannover Scorpions , where he succeeded Hans Zach . After the team had not reached the play-offs, he was released on March 11, 2012.

At the beginning of January 2013, Krinner succeeded Axel Kammerer at SC Riessersee in order to get the club back on the road to success. Two years later, on January 19, 2015, the native of Tölzer canceled his contract with Riessersee, and on January 20, his commitment as head coach of league competitor EVL Landshut Eishockey was announced.

Riessersee then appealed against Krinner's dismissal. On January 29, 2015, the Weilheim Labor Court ruled that Anton Krinner's dismissal without notice as coach of the DEL2 Club SC Riessersee was not legally binding, and thus upheld a lawsuit by SC Riessersee. The 47-year-old ice hockey instructor remained formally a coach at SC Riessersee. At the same time, the court granted an injunction from SC Riessersee, according to which Krinner was not allowed to participate in EV Landshut's game and training operations without a mutually agreed agreement as long as his employment contract in Riessersee was still valid.

In December 2015 he resigned from his coaching position at EV Landshut after he had already learned of cancer in June 2015. In February 2016, he became head coach at the DEL2 club ESV Kaufbeuren . Shortly before the start of the 2016/17 season, he resigned after his father had suffered a serious hunting accident and Krinner took over the management of the two family businesses.

On October 25, 2016, he succeeded the dismissed Daniel Naud as head coach of the second division team Ravensburg Towerstars .

On March 2, 2017, Krinner died of lymph gland cancer at the age of 49 in a clinic near Bad Tölz .
