The Arbia is a river with about 57 km in length in the region Tuscany in Italy , which in Buonconvento in the Ombrone flows.

The river has its source in Chianti at Poggio Cavallari between the municipalities of Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti , Province of Siena , approx. 15 km northwest of Siena .

After the spring municipalities of Castellina in Chianti and Radda in Chianti, briefly also touching Gaiole in Chianti , it flows south to the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, where it remains 12 km and passes the district of Pianella at 226 meters above sea level, then it crosses the western districts of Siena (in total 9 km), flows under the highway Raccordo Siena - Bettolle (SS 73 as part of the European route 78 ) and acts as a border river between Taverne d'Arbia (Siena) and Arbia (district of Asciano ) at 185  m slm . It goes under the railway line Siena – Chiusi / Chianciano Terme and shortly after Taverne flows from the right towards the Bozzone . From Isola d'Arbia (Siena, 176  m slm ) it runs parallel to the Via Francigena (here coinciding with the Via Cassia as the SS 2 state road), and flowing further south, it reaches Monteroni d'Arbia , the area of ​​which it covers a total of 13 km runs through it. Here he first meets the district of Ponte a Tressa ( 172  m slm ), where the Tressa enters from the right. Then it reaches the main town of Monteroni and continues to flow to Ponte d'Arbia (district of Monteroni, 151  m slm ), where the Sorra joins from the right . It then flows under the Siena – Grosseto railway north of Buonconvento (8 km, 147  m slm ), where it joins the Ombrone as a right tributary a few meters west of the town center .

The river is named for the municipality of Monteroni d'Arbia , its districts Lucignano d'Arbia and Ponte d'Arbia , for the district of Arbia of the municipality of Asciano and for three districts of Siena ( Isola d'Arbia , Taverne d'Arbia and Vico d 'Arbia ).
