Barbara Alms
Barbara Alms (born July 19, 1945 in Osterburg (Altmark) ) is a German philosopher , Germanist and art historian . She lives in Bremen and was head of the Delmenhorst Municipal Gallery from 1989 to 2010 . For her services to the cultural life in Delmenhorst and in the Oldenburger Land she received the culture award of the Oldenburg landscape on March 1st, 2008 .
Exhibitions
Barbara Alms organized exhibitions on classical modernism as well as contemporary art as part of the Delmenhorst Municipal Gallery . Exhibitions such as “ The Storm in Berlin in the Ten Years” (2000) had a nationwide response ; “ Ernst Ludwig Kirchner . Big City, Eros and Nature ”(2004) and“ Paris Glows ”(2007). She was particularly interested in new painting , to which she devoted a series of investigations: “Reality in Contemporary Painting” (2001), “UnHeimlich” (2003), “Beauty of Painting” (2005). The year 2006 was declared the “Year of Photography ” at the Delmenhorst Municipal Gallery , with exhibitions such as “ Man Ray to Sigmar Polke ” and the like. a.
Collections
Over the years she has built up three collections in the Delmenhorst Municipal Gallery :
- A collection on the work of the STURM artist Fritz Stuckenberg , his friends and international contemporaries (from Alexander Archipenko to Heinrich Campendonk , Umberto Boccioni , Walter Dexel , Lyonel Feininger , Otto Freundlich , Johannes Itten , Wassily Kandinsky , Paul Klee , Ernst-Ludwig Kirchner , August Macke , Franz Marc to Kurt Schwitters and others).
- a graphic collection on the French avant-garde (from Émile Bernard , Paul Cézanne to Maurice Denis , Robert Delaunay Raoul Dufy to Maurice Utrillo )
- a collection of contemporary drawings ( Bernhard Johannes Blume , Marcel van Eeden , Harald Falkenhagen , Lily Fischer , Marikke Heinz-Hoek , Thomas Huber , Karin Kneffel , Nanne Meyer , Hartmut Neumann , Heribert C. Ottersbach , Neo Rauch , Alexander Roob , Norbert Schwontkowski among others).
