Benedikt Willert (born June 2, 2001 in Forchheim ) is a German soccer goalkeeper . He is under contract with 1. FC Nürnberg .

Career

Willert started playing football at DJK / SpVgg Effeltrich, initially as a striker . After he switched to FSV Erlangen-Bruck at the age of nine , he represented his teammate who was unable to play in the goal of the U11 at a tournament in Munich and remained in this position from then on. Under the youth coach Simone Vogler, with whom he stayed in contact even after his junior years, he received several awards as the best goalkeeper.

Together with his goalkeeping coach Christian Krüger, Willert moved to the youth performance center of 1. FC Nürnberg in the summer of 2015 , for whose A and B juniors he played from then on. For the 2019–21 season he was integrated into the regional league team , in which he took turns with Jonas Wendlinger in goal.

On the 12th match day of the parallel second division season Willert made his debut for the first team after goalkeeper Christian Mathenia and his representatives Andreas Lukse and Patric Klandt as well as his U21 teammate Wendlinger were injured. In the last game under the subsequently dismissed head coach Damir Canadi , the 18-year-old had to reach behind him three times. From the 14th matchday he was then replaced by the more experienced and meanwhile committed Felix Dornebusch .
