The Benz 25/55 PS was added to the Benz 16/40 PS and later the Benz 18/45 PS as a more powerful model in 1912 . In 1915 it was replaced by the six-cylinder model 25/65 hp . In 1918 it replaced its successor and was built for another two years.

The car was equipped with a four cylinder in-line engine with 6510 cc capacity, the 55 HP (40 kW) at 1500 min -1 developed. The engine power was passed on to a four-speed gearbox via a leather cone clutch and from there to the rear wheels via a cardan shaft or, on request, chains (until 1915). The top speed was 85 km / h, the fuel consumption 25 l / 100 km.

The vehicles were still equipped with leaf-sprung rigid axles and wooden or wire-spoke wheels. The chassis cost 15,500 .
