In the 1980/81 season the Biathlon World Cup was held for the 4th time. The competition series consisted of five individual, sprint and relay races for men and was held at five venues. In addition to the four World Cup events in Jáchymov , Antholz , Ruhpolding and Hedenäset , the World Championships took place in Lahti, Finland . Frank Ullrich won the overall World Cup ahead of Anatoli Aljabjew and Kjell Søbak .
