Luge World Cup 1980/81

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 4th World Cup season was run in 1980/81 at five stations in the Federal Republic of Germany, Austria and Italy. In the men's single-seater, Ernst Haspinger and Paul Hildgartner shared first place in the overall standings for the first time. The following two ranks were also occupied by Italians, so there was an Italian quadruple triumph. The duo Günter Lemmerer and Reinhold Sulzbacher won the doubles with 40 points. Her compatriot Georg Fluckinger collected 42 points, but with two different partners ( Karl Schrott and Franz Wilhelmer). In the women's category, Austrian Angelika Schafferer won the World Cup for the third time in a row and for the last time.
