The Boekzeteler Meer is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Moormerland in the district of Leer and Großefehn in the district of Aurich .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 231 is 102 hectares in size. Of this, 94.5 hectares are in the Leer district and 7.5 hectares in the Aurich district. The nature reserve is completely part of the FFH area “Fehntjer Tief und Umgebung” and largely part of the EU bird protection area “Fehntjer Tief”. North and south it borders largely to the conservation area "Boekzeteler sea and environment." The area has been a nature reserve since May 1, 1998. Responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the districts of Leer and Aurich.
The nature reserve to the south of Timmel is characterized by the Boekzeteler Meer , a low moor lake, to which silting zones and low moor as well as wet meadows connect. In the north it borders on the Timmeler Meer , which is connected to the Boekzeteler Meer via a connecting channel. The lake is drained via the Fehntjer Tief and Rorichumer Tief to the Ems .
