Bradley A. "Brad" Winchester (born March 1, 1981 in Madison , Wisconsin ) is a former American ice hockey player who played 414 games for the Edmonton Oilers , Dallas Stars , St. Louis Blues , Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks played in the National Hockey League on the position of left winger . Winchester was considered a robust, strong player and power forward .

Career

Winchester spent two years on the US Ice Hockey Association's special hockey sponsorship program . After two seasons in the promotion program, he moved to his home university, the University of Wisconsin – Madison in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . He played there for four years. In the 2000 NHL Entry Draft , Winchester was drafted 35th by the Edmonton Oilers .

His professional ice hockey career began in the American Hockey League with the Oilers' farm team, the Toronto Roadrunners , in the 2003/04 season. During the lockout of the NHL in the 2004/05 season , he stayed with the team moving to Emdonton. In the 2005/06 season he finally made his debut in the NHL, where he remained in 19 games without scoring and switched several times during the season between the Hamilton Bulldogs and the Edmonton Oilers back and forth. In his playoff debut in the second game of the Western Conference quarter-finals in the same season, he surprisingly scored the winning goal. While the Oilers made it to the Stanley Cup final against the Carolina Hurricanes and only had to admit defeat after seven games, Winchester was mostly only a substitute in the squad and brought it to ten games.

After another season in the squad, the Oilers made him no new contract offer in the summer of 2007, which made him a free agent under the contract rules of the NHL . He then signed a contract with the Dallas Stars . A year later followed a commitment to the St. Louis Blues and Winchester was set as a regular player in the three following seasons before he was given in a transfer deal to the Anaheim Ducks in late February 2011 . At the end of the 2010/11 season , the Californians did not extend his expiring contract, so Winchester became a free agent. After the teams' training camps in early October, the San Jose Sharks signed him for a year. There he completed his last season in the NHL in the 2011/12 season. He then worked for various teams in the AHL until the summer of 2015, before he declared his active career over at the age of 34.
