Brendan Bell (born March 31, 1983 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with HC Bozen in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .
Career
Brendan Bell first played for the Ottawa Junior Senators in the lower- tier Canadian junior league Central Tier 1 Junior A Hockey League from 1998 to 1999 , before the defender went on the ice for the Ottawa 67’s in the Ontario Hockey League from the 1999/2000 season . For this, the Canadian was active four seasons and won in his second season with the team the J. Ross Robertson Cup , the championship of the Ontario Hockey League. During this time he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 65th player from the Toronto Maple Leafs .
For their farm team from the American Hockey League , the St. John's Maple Leafs , the defender was on the ice from 2003 to 2005. During the 2005/06 season Bell made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Maple Leafs, but was only used in one game and played the rest of the season for their AHL farm team, the Toronto Marlies . Although the left shooter played 31 NHL games for Toronto in the following year, the Canadians gave the player to the Phoenix Coyotes on February 27, 2007 , for which he gave two assists in 14 games by the end of the season. In the 2007/08 season, Bell only played twice for the Coyotes in the NHL and the rest of the season for their farm team San Antonio Rampage . The Canadian then signed a contract with the Ottawa Senators on July 11, 2008 as a free agent .
After a solid season with the Senators, he left the team and signed on July 31, 2009 with the St. Louis Blues . But Bell did not make the jump into the squad of the Blues and played for the Peoria Rivermen in the American Hockey League . In December 2009 he was transferred to the Columbus Blue Jackets . The rest of the season the Canadian played at the Syracuse Crunch and was one of the pillars of the team with 49 games and 35 points. On May 20, 2010 he signed with HK Awangard Omsk in the KHL . After one game, he decided to continue his career in Switzerland at EHC Biel , where he signed a contract in October 2010. In August 2011, the defender was signed by the New York Rangers . After he spent the season in the AHL, except for one game, Bell moved to Sweden for Frölunda HC . After just one season he left Sweden and returned to EHC Biel in the National League A back.
Between January and April 2016 he played at HC Bozen in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League .
