history

With the community edict (early 19th century) Bronnenmühle was assigned to the tax district and the municipal community of Rothenburg.

Architectural monuments

  • Short path 7a: The construction of the Bronnenmühle began in 1595 and was completed in 1599/1600. It served as a flour mill, sawmill and as a water lift. In her function as a water lift, she transported the spring water in a 350 meter long lead pipe to the Klingenturm (80 meters height difference) and thus ensured the water supply for the city of Rothenburg. The construction came from Hans Sommer . In 1853 the pumps were removed and replaced by a turbine, which is probably one of the oldest in Franconia . Around 1950 the pumping operation of the Bronnenmühle was stopped.
