Burgstall (formerly also called Tauberburkstall or Oberburkstall ) is a district of the large district town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia ( Bavaria ).

geography

The estate lies on the Schandtauber , which is a left tributary of the Tauber . A residential road leads to state road 1022 (0.7 km north), which runs to Bossendorf (2.5 km west) or Rothenburg (3 km east).

history

Originally there was a castle in the place, which was partially burned down by Adam von Reihn in 1462 . In 1802 there were ten community rights in the place, all of which had the imperial city of Rothenburg as landlord .

With the community edict (early 19th century), Burgstall was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Leuzenbronn . In the course of the regional reform , Burgstall was incorporated into Rothenburg on July 1, 1972.
