history

In the Geographical Lexicon (1802) the place is described as follows:

“Sandhof, also known as Schandhof, imperial town of Rothenburgischer, within the land weirs, a farm located half an hour from the town towards Kirchberg. The Rothenburgische Spital, to which it belongs, has 2 existing farmers there, in addition to a sizable sheep farm and its own shepherd. They used to parish there with the miller in Gebsattel, but have been going to the hospital church in Rothenburg for a long time. The tithes are divided equally between the hospital in Rothenburg, Gebsattel, Burgstall and the pastor in Leutzenbronn. Sandhof has the exclusive right to pasture with the sheep on the markings of Hemmendorf, Brunzendorf, Vorbach and Schwarzenbrunn. Because of this sheep farm and cattle drive on Eckartshöfer Markung, also because of the drive through with the milking sheep on Enzenweiler Markung, a Urthel from 1564 is available. A contract dated August 28, 1567 was also drawn up for the exercise of grazing justice. In the French murderous fire in November 1688, it lost 6 buildings, of which the damage was minimal to 5584 guilders. has been posted. All the sheep that the Rothenburgische Spital had there were also driven away. The citizens could not look at this indifferently. The protectors therefore seek permission from the magistrate to try to see whether the herds [Sp. 39] could not be snatched from the enemy again? This attempt succeeded. They got the whole herd back. According to this, according to an oral tradition, the Rothenburgische Spital gives the shooting society one of the best Hammel prizes every year. Anyone who is not a citizen cannot be allowed to shoot. "

With the community edict (early 19th century), the place was assigned to the tax district and the municipal community of Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
