Vorbach is a district of the large district town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The hamlet with less than a dozen house numbers is not quite two and a half kilometers west of the city center of Rothenburg ob der Tauber in the small valley gorge of the Vorbach , the upper and smaller of the two left tributaries of the same name of the Tauber , which flows across from the Rothenburg Bronnenmühle . The neighboring Schorrenhof is located directly above the northern shoulder of the eastward sloping valley cut, less than a hundred meters away . On the western edge of the village there used to be a small quarry in the shell limestone left and right of the stream , both of which have since been abandoned. In the north there is an approximately 0.5 hectare quarry pond.

history

In the Geographical Lexicon (1804) the place is described as follows:

“Vorbach, the whole of the imperial city of Rothenburgischer within the land weirs half an hour from the city against Schrotzberg, a hamlet with 7 municipal rights. The place is parish to Dettwang, has 9 services and provides 2 cars. The tithe was bought with Nortenberg in 1385 and is now the private property of some Rothenburg particuliers. In former times there was a castle there, which is said to have been destroyed in 912 when the Huns first invaded. From the Thüngen murder fire, see Schweinsdorf . The Vorbacher valley has beautiful fossils, among which crystallized shells have been found. A more attentive investigation in this valley and in yet another tau region behind the double bridge would probably reward itself with a good yield. "

With the community edict (early 19th century) Vorbach was assigned to the tax district and the rural community of Leuzenbronn . As part of the regional reform , Vorbach was incorporated into Rothenburg on July 1, 1972.

traffic

A communal road leads from the mouth of the brook in the east up the Vorbach valley and rises following the side hollow of the Reutsachsen trench to the plateau to the north. There it divides into a branch westward to Hemmendorf and another northward to Reutsachsen , which is already beyond the Rothenburg city and Bavarian border in the Creglingen area. These traffic routes are only of local importance. Overland traffic uses the St 1020  / L 1020 , which climbs the plateau at the mouth of the Vorbach over the downward spur of the mouth and runs south past Reutsachsen west-north-west towards Niederstetten -Rinderfeld.
