Bronson is a city and also the county seat of Levy County in the US state of Florida with 1113 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Bronson is about 120 km southwest of Jacksonville .
history
The place was permanently settled from 1839. The railway age in Bronson began in 1861, shortly before the outbreak of the Civil War . In that year the Florida Railroad line from Fernandina via Bronson to Cedar Key was completed. In 1932 the section between Archer and Cedar Key was closed.
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 1113 inhabitants were distributed over 496 households. The population density was 103.1 inh / km². 67.6% of the population identified themselves as white , 25.6% as African-American , 0.4% as Native American and 0.3% as Asian Americans . 3.1% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 3.1% to several ethnic groups. 8.2% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 36.8% of all households and persons aged 65 and over lived in 26.7% of all households. 71.7% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.60 people and the average family size was 3.01 people.
29.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.8% were 40 to 59 years old, and 20.9% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 37 years. 47.2% of the population were male and 52.8% were female.
The median annual income was $ 36,389, with 26.3% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the first language of 93.20% of the population and 6.80% spoke Spanish .
