The Cadre 45/2 World Championship in 1930 was the 23rd World Championship, which was held in Cadre 45/2 until 1947 and in Cadre 47/2 from 1948. The tournament took place in Antwerp from May 26th to June 1st, 1930 . It was the fourth World Billiards Championship in Belgium.

history

The world championship in Antwerp was a world championship of records. All of the records made so far in amateur world championships have been improved. The Frenchman Albert Corty set two new world records . He improved the general average (GD) over a tournament to 28.56 . The old high series (HS), achieved in the challenge match 1925 against Jan Dommering with 258, he improved to 260 . Since the series was achieved in the qualifying match against the eliminated German Ludwig Meyer and the games of the eliminated players were not included in the main round, it does not appear in the final table. The old world record in the best individual average (BED), held by Théo Moons with 57.14, was improved by Belgian Walter Baltus in a match against his compatriot Gaston de Doncker to 66.66 . The audience interest in the world championship, held in the new Billiard Palace, was enormous. To save the atmosphere, a smoking ban was imposed in the evening in the full hall. Very unusual at the time. The very good performances were also favored by the good material (billiard towels and balls).

Tournament mode

Two qualification groups with six and seven players were played. The top four in each group played the main tournament. The qualification results of the qualified players were carried over to the main tournament.
