The Cadre 45/2 World Championship in 1931 was the 24th World Championship, which was held until 1947 in Cadre 45/2 and from 1948 in Cadre 47/2. The tournament took place in Geneva from April 27 to May 3, 1931 . It was the second billiards world championship in Switzerland.

history

Albert Poensgen from Düsseldorf was the first German amateur pool world champion. At his second participation in the world championship after 1906, where he took second place, this time it was a great success. In 1926 in Philadelphia, Erich Hagenlocher, originally from Stuttgart, achieved this success with the professionals . After it was generally written in 1930 that the Belgian Victor Luypaerts was somewhat happily world champion, this time there was no doubt that the victory was deserved. The only defeat conceded Poensgen in the qualification against the Frenchman Jean de Gasparin, who could not qualify for the main tournament. Also at this world championship there was a new amateur world record. Gustave van Belle improved the best performance in the best individual average (BED), which was only established in 1930, from 66.66 to 80.00 .

Tournament mode

Two qualification groups with six and five players were played. The top four in each group played the main tournament. The qualification results of the qualified players were carried over to the main tournament.
