The 1962 Cadre 47/2 World Championship was the 36th World Championship, which was held in Cadre 45/2 until 1947 and from 1948 in Cadre 47/2. The tournament took place from January 17 to 21, 1962 in Düsseldorf . After 1933 in Cologne (Cadre 45/2) it was the second Cadre 47/2 World Championship in Germany and the first World Championship, which was organized by the Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB), newly founded in 1959 .
history
After eleven years a Cadre 47/2 World Championship took place again. It was organized by the Düsseldorf-based billiard club Düsseldorfer Billardfreunde in 1954. Siegfried Spielmann was heavily involved . Despite the third place, he could not call his best performance. The winner was the four-time European champion in the free game Jos Vervest from Antwerp in Belgium. He dominated the tournament with all his best performances. He improved the world record in the highest series (HS) to 319 . The 54-year-old Piet van de Pol from Rotterdam secured second place .

It was played in the round robin system up to 400 points. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:
