In 2008 the event replaced the Hirsau Klosterspiele, which had been taking place at the same location since 1959 .
Emergence
The Calw Monastery Summer in Hirsau has existed since 2008, it replaced the Hirsau Monastery Games . It was a theater festival organized by the city of Calw from 1959 to 2007 at the same location. Declining visitor numbers finally led to the cessation of the monastery games. The organizer is the Calw concert agency concetera GmbH. The event title "Calwer Klostersommer in Hirsau" is protected as a trademark throughout Europe. Since then, the city of Calw has supported the annual Calw monastery summer from budget funds in the course of cultural funding, but has no influence on the program design.
