Casteller (wine)
Casteller is a red wine from the northern Italian Trentino . The wine has had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1974 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Growing area
The cultivation and production are authorized in the following municipalities: Ala , Albiano , Aldeno , Arco , Avio , Besenello , Brentonico , Calliano , Cavedine , Cembra Lisignago , Cimone, Civezzano , Drena , Dro , Faedo , Altavalle , Garniga Terme , Giovo , Isera , Madruzzo , Lavis , Mezzocorona , Mezzolombardo , Mori , Nago-Torbole , Nave San Rocco , Nogaredo , Nomi , Padergnone , Pergine Valsugana , Pomarolo , Riva del Garda , Roverè della Luna , Rovereto , San Michele all'Adige , Segonzano , Tenna , Tenna Tenno , Ton , Trambileno , Trento , Vezzano , Villa Lagarina , Volano and Zambana .
Manufacturing
The wine is made from at least 50% Merlot grapes . Schiava grossa , Schiava gentile , Lambrusco a Foglia Frastagliata , Lagrein and Teroldego may be added individually or together.
