Christian Bach (born March 22, 1979 in Meiningen ) is a former German cyclist who mainly competed in races on the track .
Athletic career
Christian Bach began his sporting career with the cycling club RSV Blau-Weiß Meiningen in road cycling and in 1998 moved to RSC Turbine in Erfurt , where he attended the sports high school. Christian Bach won the bronze medal in the individual pursuit and the silver medal in the team pursuit at the Junior Track Cycling World Championships in 1997 . In 1999, as a junior, he won the German men's team pursuit for the first time. He was able to repeat this title win in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2004 with various partners. At the UCI Track World Championships in 2001 in Antwerp , he won the bronze medal in the team pursuit, in 2002 he won silver in Ballerup near Copenhagen . In addition to his successes in German and world championships, Bach achieved victories and good placements in track cycling world cups , six-day races and road races. In 2008 he was European police champion in the individual time trial.
At the UCI Road World Championships in 2003 in Stuttgart , Bach and Daniel Becke , Jens Lehmann and Sebastian Siedler from TEAG Team Köstritzer refused to drive in a team with the Berlin drivers Guido Fulst and Robert Bartko on the instructions of the Thuringian regional trainer Jens Lang , whereupon the German four-man did not start at all. Bach was excluded from the national team and subsequently did not take part in the Olympic Games in Athens . He lost his support through the sports aid and his status as a sports soldier . He later apologized to the Association of German Cyclists for his behavior.
Professional
Christian Bach was a member of the “Summer” sports promotion group at the Thuringian Police Education Center in Meiningen. 2014 he opened in Erfurt, the bicycle shop Bachus bike and initiated the Everyman Team Team Bachus bike . He worked part-time as a police officer.
