Status: end of career

Christian Tiffert (born February 18, 1982 in Halle (Saale) ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach. He is currently under contract as an assistant coach at Chemnitzer FC .

Career

As a player

Hallescher FC

Tiffert played in his youth at Halleschen FC and at the turn of the year 1997/98 moved to the youth department of Tennis Borussia Berlin .

Tennis Borussia Berlin

On March 24, 2000 he made his debut in professional football and completed eight games (two goals) for TeBe in the 2nd division .

VfB Stuttgart

For the 2000/01 season he moved to VfB Stuttgart . In the Bundesliga he scored nine goals in 136 games. Under Felix Magath and Matthias Sammer he was a record substitute before he could be considered a regular player at the end of the Sammer era. In addition to his appearances in Germany's top division, he was also occasionally active for the reserve team in Stuttgart in the Regionalliga Süd (17 games, 5 goals). In 2003 he was able to reach the runner-up with VfB. He scored his first goal in the Bundesliga in a 3-0 win against SC Freiburg on November 17, 2001.

FC Red Bull Salzburg

For the 2006/07 season , Christian Tiffert moved to the Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg for around 1,300,000 euros , where he met Giovanni Trapattoni again , who had coached VfB Stuttgart for a short time in the 2005/06 season. With Red Bull Salzburg he missed the Champions League against Spanish first division club Valencia in 2006 . The team didn't get very far in the UEFA Cup either. It was eliminated in the first round against the English first division club Blackburn Rovers . Things went better in the Austrian Bundesliga - with Red Bull Salzburg he won the championship five games before the end of the season.

MSV Duisburg

From the 2007/08 season Christian Tiffert played for MSV Duisburg . He came on a free transfer and signed a contract until 2010. In the first season he was at the beginning of the starting lineup, but developed a form crisis under the then coach Rudi Bommer and was only a reservist at the end. In the following season, the MSV played in the 2nd Bundesliga. Christian Tiffert was sorted out by Bommer at the beginning and should be sold in the summer. However, a transfer did not take place. When Rudi Bommer was on leave after 13 match days and Peter Neururer was hired as a coach, Tiffert's perspective on the team changed. Under Neururer, who thought a lot of the former U-21 national player, he was part of the regular formation from the second half of the 2008/09 season. There he developed into a leading player in a short time and scored his first goal in the "Zebra" dress in a 5-3 win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . - In preparation for the 2009/10 season he was elected deputy captain of the team. He was also given the number “10” as his shirt number and not the “11” as usual.

1. FC Kaiserslautern

For the 2010/11 season Tiffert moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern . He signed a three-year contract that was valid for both the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga. In his first season he became one of the top performers of the newcomer. Among other things, he contributed 17 templates and was therefore the best preparer of the Bundesliga in his debut season together with Ribery. He also scored two goals this season, his first goal for FCK in the 3-0 home win against Borussia Mönchengladbach on October 30, 2010. The readers of the daily newspaper Die Rheinpfalz voted him FCK Player of the Year 2011.

At the beginning of the new 2011/12 season Tiffert was elected to the team council and appointed captain by coach Marco Kurz . He replaced Martin Amedick and Srđan Lakić, who had moved to Wolfsburg . In 2011/12, Tiffert was mostly unable to build on his performance in the previous season. As bottom of the table, FCK rose to the second division.

Seattle Sounders

27 July 2012 changed Tiffert for US MLS - franchise Seattle Sounders . He signed a three-season contract. In March 2013, the association terminated the contract with immediate effect; the association did not give a reason for this step. Neither Tiffert himself nor his advisor were informed by the association about the reasons for the termination of the contract.

VfL Bochum

On June 4, 2013 Tiffert signed a contract with VfL Bochum , which was valid until June 30, 2015. After a year, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement.

FC Erzgebirge Aue

In the summer of 2015 Tiffert went to the third division club FC Erzgebirge Aue . After four assists in 31 league appearances, he was named the second best FCE footballer of the 2015/16 season by the Auer fans. His contract ran until 2018. On November 9, 2017 Tiffert extended for another year at FC Erzgebirge Aue.

Career finale at Halleschen FC

In January 2019 Tiffert moved to the 3rd division to his youth club Hallescher FC . It was equipped with a contract running until June 2019 with the option of an extension to 2020. In addition to his “footballing and strategic skills”, sporting director Ralf Heskamp also named Tiffert's ability to work in various positions as the reason for the commitment. Despite "impeccable training performance", he could no longer keep up with the "general level" of the team that played for promotion until shortly before the end of the season and only made three appearances. The club did not take advantage of the extension option after the season.

As a trainer

After the end of his career as a player, Tiffert is currently aiming to acquire the football coach B license. To this end, he interned at the DFB base in Fellbach-Oeffingen, among others.

At the end of September 2019, he found a job as assistant to the new head coach Patrick Glöckner at third division Chemnitzer FC , after he was also a guest there.

National team

Christian Tiffert played 24 U21 internationals and a total of 33 junior internationals. In 2000 he was able to achieve 3rd place in the Junior European Championship in his own country with the DFB selection . He was also in the squad for the 2004 U21 European Championship in Germany.
