Conrad Günther Ernst Wilhelm von Hugo (born January 20, 1844 in Wohlau , † January 24, 1911 in Stettin ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

Hugo was raised in his parents' house and attended the community school in Winzig and the grammar school in Lissa . He then graduated from the cadet houses in Wahlstatt and Berlin . On May 6, 1862, Hugo was transferred as second lieutenant to the King Grenadier Regiment (2nd West Prussian) No. 7 of the Prussian Army . During the war against Austria in 1866 he was assigned to the headquarters guard and took part in the battle of Königgrätz . After the peace treaty Hugo was used from May 1, 1867 for three years as adjutant of the 1st Battalion and in the meantime promoted him to Prime Lieutenant on September 15, 1869 .

As such, Hugo took part in the battle of Weissenburg and the siege of Paris during the war against France in 1870/71 as leader of the 7th mobile company . He was wounded in the Battle of Wörth and was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for his achievements . After the Peace of Frankfurt , Hugo was commanded from May 20, 1871 to July 13, 1872 as a teacher and inspection officer at the Neisse War School. When he was promoted to captain on January 11, 1873, he was appointed chief of the 9th Company, until Hugo was transferred to the 2nd Silesian Grenadier Regiment No. 11 in the same position on November 17, 1881 in Breslau . Here he rose on March 13, 1884 to the surplus major and was from January 12, 1886 to April 7, 1889 commander of the 2nd battalion. This was followed by his transfer to the 4th Guards Regiment on foot . On March 24, 1890, Hugo was promoted to lieutenant colonel as a regular staff officer in the Emperor Franz Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 2 . On June 18, 1892 he was commissioned to lead the grenadier regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm IV." (1st Pomeranian) No. 2 and Hugo was appointed commander of this regiment while being promoted to colonel . While being promoted to major general , Hugo was given command of the 56th Infantry Brigade in Rastatt on June 16, 1896 . As lieutenant general , he was then from June 15, 1899 commander of the 7th division in Magdeburg .

On March 26, 1902, Hugo was commanded to Württemberg to lead the XIII. (Royal Württemberg) Army Corps to take over. On October 18, 1902, he was appointed Commanding General and in this position he was promoted to General of the Infantry on November 14, 1903. Hugo was removed from his position in Württemberg on April 3, 1907, when he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown . He was thereupon in approval of his resignation request with the statutory pension for disposition and à la suite of the grenadier regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm IV." (1st Pomeranian) No. 2.
