Career

Craig Muni began his career as a hockey player with the Kingston Canadians , for whom he played from 1979 to 1981 in the Ontario Major Junior Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League . During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 1980 in the second round as a total of 25th player from the Toronto Maple Leafs . Initially, Muni played until 1982 for the Windsor Spitfires in the OHL. In the playoffs of the American Hockey League in the 1980/81 season, the defender played for the first time in professional ice hockey when he was on the ice twice for the New Brunswick Hawks . Muni made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Maple Leafs in the 1981/82 season.

On August 18, 1986 Muni received a free agent contract with the Edmonton Oilers , with whom he won the prestigious Stanley Cup three times within four years in 1987, 1988 and 1990 . After seven successful years, the Canadian was given in exchange for Mike Hudson to the Chicago Blackhawks in March 1993 , which, however, transferred him to the Buffalo Sabers after only seven months . Until his retirement after the 1997/98 season , Muni played for the Winnipeg Jets , Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars at short notice .

The ex-player then worked as a scout for the Tampa Bay Lightning in the NHL between 1999 and 2002 . For the 2016/17 season , Muni and Ric Seiling took over the head coach of the Buffalo Beauts from the National Women's Hockey League , with whom he won the Isobel Cup straight away . In the following year, he stepped back into the role of assistant coach behind Seiling, before both left the club after the 2017/18 season .
