Critters - you are there! (Alternative title: Critters - They Bite! ) Is an American science fiction film directed by Stephen Herek from 1986 . The name of the title-giving extraterrestrial comes from the colloquial, humorous pronunciation of the English word creatures (creatures, living beings).
action
An alien civilization maintains a maximum security prison on an asteroid. The dangerous and voracious critters transported there hijack a spaceship and escape. Two bounty hunters are sent to capture the critters.
The Critters reach Earth and land near Grovers Bend in the American Midwest on a farm where the Brown family lives. Charlie McFadden, a well-known drinker, sees the spaceship about to land on a country road and turns around on his bike to report immediately to Grovers Bend. On the farm, too, one becomes aware of the earthquake caused by the landing. Daughter April Brown is seducing her boyfriend Steve and won't be bothered any further. Not so with Jay Brown, the father, and son Brad, who set out to search for the cause. When they discover a battered cow in the field, they quickly return to the farmhouse. The police officer Jeff Barnes, who is on the road in the police car, becomes the next victim of the same after an evasive maneuver by the Critters. In the meantime, the alien bounty hunters land on earth, also find the dead cow and then the police officer. In human form, they continue the search for the Critters in his police car.
The little monsters have reached the farm and cut electricity and telephone lines in the basement, where they attack Mr. Brown for the first time with their stunning spikes. Only with the effort and help of Mrs. Helen and son Brad does he manage to escape from the cellar. April and Steve are also attacked in the barn shortly afterwards, with Steve killing him. After April's calls for help, Brad arrives and they flee to their parents' farmhouse. You try to barricade yourself, but the Critters find another way to attack. Brad also notes that the Critters are rapidly growing in size and tries to get help. The Critters hunters have meanwhile arrived in Grovers Bend. In their search, they destroy a chapel facility during a sermon and pay a sensational visit to a bowling alley. The police chief therefore seems completely helpless and follows them on their way. The alien hunters meet Brad and drive him back towards the farm. Just as the Critters are about to attack the rest of the Browns again, the bounty hunters arrive and take action. The police chief who has arrived cannot prevent a giant critter from kidnapping the stunned April. Brad pursues the Critter in the direction of the spaceship and meets Charlie. Together they free April and defeat the Critters.

The lexicon of international film said: “Eventful science fiction / horror film variant based on numerous models of the genre cinema. Since amusing ideas and dramatic, sometimes drastic tension effects are not combined into a convincing cohesion, at best entertainment acceptable for fans of this genre. "
