Daniel Hoevels (born March 10, 1978 in Lund , Sweden ) is a German actor .

Life

Hoevels was born in southern Sweden . He attended the Waldorf School in Heidelberg , where he made his first acting experience at the age of 16 in the theater group. From 1997 to 2000 he studied political science at the Free University of Berlin . After three years of studying, he decided to become an actor and, after several auditions in Berlin , Cologne , Bochum and Saarbrücken, was finally accepted in Hamburg , where he trained as an actor from 2001 to 2004 (according to other sources in 2005) at the University of Music and Theater completed. During his training he made his first appearances in the theater in Hamburg (Kampnagel Hamburg, Zeisehallen Hamburg) and Weimar . In 2004 he appeared at the National Theater Weimar with the role of Malvolio in Was ihr wollt . Even before the final production White Trash (director: Andreas Kriegenburg ), with which he also appeared at the Theatertreffen German-speaking drama students in 2004 , he already played Huckleberry Finn in the family play Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn at the Thalia Theater Hamburg , alongside Tino Mewes as Tom Sawyer .

From January 2005 to 2009 he was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theater Hamburg . There he worked in numerous productions a. a. with the directors David Bösch , Jorinde Dröse , Jette Steckel , Andreas Kriegenburg , Nicolas Stemann , Armin Petras and Stephan Kimmig . At the beginning of 2005 he took on the role of the Duke of Burgundy in the production of King Lear by Andreas Kriegenburg at the Thalia Theater . He made his Hamburg debut in a leading role in September 2005 as Haimon in Antigone , in a production by Christine Eder at Thalia in Gaußstrasse. In December 2008, he severely injured his neck with a knife during a performance. According to press releases from the Burgtheater in Vienna and the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, it was a stage accident; Rumors that it was an assassination attempt were not confirmed. In December 2008, a few days after his performance at the Vienna Burgtheater, he took over Willi, the friend of the main character Edgar Wibeau, in a stage version of the Plenzdorf novel Die neue Leiden des young W. at the Thalia Theater.

In the 2016/17 season he took over the historical figure of Jean Paul Marat in a new production of Marat / Sade at the Deutsches Theater Berlin (premiere: November 2016, director: Stefan Pucher). In the 2017/18 season he was a. a. in addition to Ulrich Matthes , Benjamin Lillie , Birgit Unterweger and Cordelia Weg to the ten-person ensemble of actors in Sebastian Hartmann's Ulysses production at the Deutsches Theater.

Hoevels also made guest appearances at the Schauspiel Frankfurt and at the Bregenz Festival (2010; in the Berliner Herz der Finsternis production).

Hoevels also took on a few film and television roles. In April 2009 Hoevels was seen in the ZDF series Coast Guard as the sailor Leif Thorwesten. He also appeared in Max Linz's film I don't want to artificially excite myself (2014) . In May 2016, Hoevels was seen in his first leading role on television. In the ZDF “Herzkino” film A Summer in Sicily (2016) he played the shipwrecked Bruno Haller at the side of Henriette Richter-Röhl .
